Learning Skills

This program is designed to serve children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), autism, or those with similar learning challenges. The Learning Skills program philosophy combines a number of different "best practices" teaching approaches which current research and experience have shown to be effective. These include developmental and relationship based approaches, incidental and naturalistic teaching, a total communication approach with emphasis on visual supports, sensory integration/regulation therapy, social skills training, structured teaching, applied behavioral analysis and home training.

Students in all Learning Skills programs are grouped into small classes by age, which allows for participation in general education activities with typically developing peers. Preschool classes are full-day programs with an integrated half-day session with typically developing peers. PAC offers a continuum of classes in this program area from ages 3 to 14.
