Social Emotional & Therapeutic Services

A child in a pink shirt sits in a meadow filled with white wildflowers as sunlight streams through the trees.

Our Social Emotional and Therapeutic Services are rooted in a holistic, strength-based approach designed to help students, families, and school districts thrive together. We recognize that true well-being happens within an ecosystem: when we support the student, empower the family, and collaborative with the district, we build a foundation for long-term community success.

What makes our approach truly unique is its interdisciplinary foundation. Co-developed through a collaboration between a licensed social worker and an experienced educator, our program merges clinical insights with practical, classroom-tested educational strategies. This dual lens ensures that our interventions treat the whole child—balancing therapeutic emotional support with functional, real-world skill application.

Our framework honors every family’s unique story, journey, and struggles with compassion and dignity. By viewing each student through an updated, neurodevelopmental lens of trauma, we focus on underlying brain states and systemic connections rather than isolated behaviors—identifying and building upon inherent strengths to foster safety, resilience, and growth.

Foundational Frameworks

Our service model integrates four evidence-aligned components to guide assessment, intervention, and support:

  • Applied Educational Neuroscience (AEN): Translating brain research into practical strategies, we focus on the nervous system, co-regulation, and neuroanatomy to create environments where learning and emotional integration can occur naturally.
  • Strengths-Based & Trauma-Informed Lens: We move away from deficit-focused models, using updated trauma research to reframe challenges as opportunities for skill-building, connection, and empowerment.
  • Family Systems Theory: We recognize that a student’s progress is deeply connected to the family dynamic. By supporting the family unit as a whole, we build sustained stability and home-school alignment.
  • Ecological Systems Model: Understanding that development occurs across multiple environments, we bridge the gaps between home, school, and community to ensure consistent, wrap-around support.

All Family and Student Support services are initiated upon request from the student’s home school district, with every service plan fully individualized to meet the specific needs, goals, and dynamics of the family.

Family & Student Support Services Available

  • Social Emotional & Therapeutic Services (SEATS) Home Support is a direct service model for students ages 3 to 22 who have been identified by their school district team as needing tailored guidance to foster overall emotional health and well-being. Grounded in Applied Educational Neuroscience (AEN), direct instruction focuses on the four key AEN pillars—neuroanatomy, co-regulation, touchpoints, and mind-body connection—teaching students how their brains work, how to recognize nervous system states, and how to build daily regulation habits. Delivered in the home environment, this model engages students through instruction that strengthens core competencies in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Ideal participants present with an average to above-average cognitive profile and thrive through interactive, experiential learning rather than discrete, repetitive instruction. By pairing brain-based student skill-building with parallel caregiver consultation, the program equips both the student and their family with the practical tools and neural frameworks needed to support emotional resilience and everyday success.

  • Caregiver Consultation is a dedicated, supportive partnership designed to empower families through personalized guidance without direct student service. Built on empathy, we begin by listening to your family’s unique story and perspective, honoring the journey and challenges that have brought you here. Together, we explore basic brain science and an updated understanding of trauma to uncover the why behind your child's complex developmental, social-emotional, and mental health needs—learning how your own calm serves as your child's primary anchor. We equip you with practical co-regulation strategies to shift from reactive discipline to connected discipline, grounded in clear communication and healthy boundaries. Importantly, this consultation acknowledges caregiver fatigue, trauma, and burnout, holding space for your own well-being and self-care while empowering you with the tools, advocacy skills, and confidence needed to raise a secure, emotionally resilient child.

  • School Refusal Intervention provides a targeted, individualized framework designed to address the complex neurodevelopmental and emotional drivers behind attendance challenges, supporting a student's confident return to school. While every intervention plan is uniquely tailored to match the student’s required level of support and home-school dynamics, all programs feature a structured, actionable plan for the student, family, and school team. By balancing co-regulation, gradual exposure, and practical anxiety-management strategies, we bridge the gap between home and the classroom, restoring felt safety, routine, and a sense of belonging for the student within their school community.

  • Navigating State and Community Agency Support provides dedicated guidance to empower families in accessing community based support, as the student's ability to access educational services may be influenced by barriers of the family in navigating and utilizing community based resources. Direct support will be provided to the family as they maneuver through complex service systems, ensuring they never have to figure it out alone. Guided through an ecological lens, we walk alongside caregivers through every step of accessing state agency support—such as the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS)—from completing detailed application paperwork to preparing for intake and eligibility appointments. Beyond state systems, we actively connect families to community-based resources such as: local mental health services, financial assistance programs, practical parenting support, and legal guidance. By reducing systemic friction and advocating for your family, this service equips caregivers with the tools, clarity, and confidence needed to build a sustainable, wrap-around support network.

  • District Professional Development & Consultation bridges clinical insight and educational practice to equip district staff with actionable, brain-aligned strategies that transform school culture. We guide educators to move beyond compliance-driven discipline, reframing challenging student behaviors through an updated trauma lens to focus on nervous system state, regulation, and underlying social-emotional needs. By grounding district teams in strengths-based practices and adult co-regulation, our professional development fosters resilient school environments where educators feel empowered, students experience felt safety, and every learner can thrive as a connected member of their school community.

  • Train-the-Trainer Model of Support builds long-term, sustainable district capacity by equipping key school staff to become embedded, internal leaders in Applied Educational Neuroscience and strengths-based practices. This model trains designated district leaders/members—such as counselors, instructional coaches, special education teachers and administrative teams—to deeply understand, model, and teach brain-aligned regulation strategies and  trauma-informed reframing within their own schools.Rather than relying on one-off workshops, your district partners directly with consultants to provide real-time coaching and facilitate ongoing professional learning communities—ensuring staff build the long-term capacity to maintain a resilient, co-regulated school culture.

  • Social Work Consultation provides specialized clinical and systemic guidance from a social worker acting as a dedicated consultant to district personnel, multidisciplinary teams, or school leadership. Aligned with the School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA) Practice Model 2.0, this service leverages data-driven practices, multi-tiered support systems, and evidence-based mental health principles to address the complex psychosocial and environmental barriers affecting student success. Grounded in family systems theory, an ecological lens, and Applied Educational Neuroscience, the social work consultant helps school staff reframe challenging behaviors, evaluate underlying nervous system states, and navigate family dynamics with empathy and cultural competence. By bridging home, school, and community systems, this consultation promotes educational equity, enhances trauma-informed practices across the district, and equips school teams with the tools needed to foster long-term student resilience and well-being.

    • Specialty Consultation Areas: Tailored support is available for complex, high-need profiles, including families navigating intergenerational trauma, students with a history of in utero substance exposure, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), or experiences within foster care and adoption. The consultant also provides expert guidance for students with complex developmental profiles, particularly those with dual diagnoses involving neurodivergence or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) alongside co-occurring mental health needs.
  • Educator Consultation provides dedicated, instruction-focused guidance from an experienced educator acting as a specialized consultant to teachers, instructional coaches, and school teams. Guided by the Applied Educational Neuroscience (AEN) model and an updated neurodevelopmental trauma lens, this service bridges brain science with daily teaching practice. Consultations can be tailored to address the needs of an individual student, structured to optimize a specific classroom environment, or designed to drive broader program-level systems changes. The educational consultant helps staff reframe disruptive or withdrawn behaviors as stress responses driven by a dysregulated nervous system rather than willful defiance. Through collaborative coaching, the consultant assists educators in designing co-regulating learning spaces, integrating micro-moments of brain alignment into academic instruction, and implementing strengths-based accommodations. This hands-on consultation equips staff with practical, neuro-aligned tools that reduce burnout, restore felt safety, and create systems where students are neurologically ready to learn and thrive.

    • Specialty Consultation Areas: Tailored support is available for complex neurodevelopmental profiles, including students with Level 1 Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), high-functioning anxiety, trauma, and complex limbic system health impairment
  • Initial Needs Assessment provides a focused, high-level entry point designed to quickly evaluate baseline student and family needs and determine the most appropriate set of district programming. Grounded in an ecological and family-centered lens, this streamlined process includes a direct home visit and collaborative discussions with district teams regarding primary presenting concerns. Rather than an exhaustive evaluation, this assessment offers an efficient, preliminary snapshot that concludes with clear written recommendations— guiding immediate home support strategies, identifying potential programming paths, and outlining practical next steps for the district.

  • Full Home Assessment (Ecological Lens) delivers an in-depth, multi-dimensional evaluation of family functioning to uncover how relational dynamics, home environment, and systemic stressors impact a student’s academic engagement and well-being. Guided by an ecological framework, this intensive process goes beyond surface-level concerns through direct student observation in the home, comprehensive interviews with the student and family, and collaborative consultation with district staff and external service providers. By synthesizing these diverse clinical perspectives, the assessment maps out the root causes impeding the student's learning and concludes with a detailed, actionable report offering targeted recommendations to strengthen home-school alignment, enhance family stability, and remove barriers to academic success.

  • School Refusal & Absenteeism Assessment provides a focused evaluation to identify the root emotional, neurodevelopmental, and environmental drivers behind a student’s attendance challenges. Using The School Refusal Assessment Scale-Reviewed  and an ecological lens, this process differentiates between truancy, anxiety, sensory overload, and nervous system threat responses. Through targeted interviews with the student, family, and district team, the assessment identifies key home and school triggers, concluding with an actionable plan of co-regulation strategies and re-entry accommodations to restore felt safety and support a sustainable return to school.

  • Program Review & Systems Consultation offers a comprehensive analysis of existing district programs, specialized classrooms, or student support frameworks through an Applied Educational Neuroscience and trauma lens. Anchored in ecological principles and trauma-informed practices, this evaluation examines how well current structures, physical environments, and disciplinary policies align with nervous system regulation and felt safety. Through dynamic observations, staff interviews, and data review, we identify systemic barriers, strengths, and leverage points across all tiers of instruction. Districts receive an actionable evaluation report with strategic recommendations designed to modernize program delivery, improve adult-student co-regulation, foster family-school alignment, and build a sustainable, neuro-aligned learning environment for long-term impact.
